One Tip to Save %20 on your Heating and Cooling Costs!
utiltiy bills
Seal Your House Up!
It is estimated that heating and cooling our home accounts for over half of our utility bills! So how can we save the most money on our monthly bills? By keeping our hot or cold air in the house!

Attic Insulation
Most homes lose about %31 of the air through ceilings, walls and floors. Having good insulation in your attic is one of the best ways to insure that your expensively cooled or heated air does not just leak right out of the house!

Insulating your home yourself is relatively easy and effective. Energy Star estimates that you could save %10-%20 on your heating and cooling bill just by properly insulating your home!

  • Weather Stripping

You can also apply weather stripping to doors and windows! This could make a big difference especially if your home is older or seems to have bigger spaces between doors and windows. Those small cracks seep out a lot of air!

Insulate Outlets
Even outlets and recessed lighting holes can leak a lot of air! Have you ever put your hand near an outlet in the winter and felt cold air pushing through the holes?? Insulate that sucker up!

Now obviously you would not want your home to hold %100 of its air. So some leakage is not necessarily bad. This ensures that you are getting some fresh air in your home and you will not die from stagnant, carbon filled air!

But most homes are poorly insulated and losing way more air than they should be losing!

Hope this tip helps you save a few bucks!

Reducing your homes utility bills can also be a huge asset when selling your home! Many buyers want to see the utility bills before even putting an offer on a home. So showing your improvements and how they cut down on your bills can be very enticing to buyers!
