Man Cave VS Lady Cave? Creative Ideas for BOTH!

Did you know that the term “man cave” was added to the Webster Dictionary? It is now legitimately a real thing. Many house hunting couples have must have lists on their mind when shopping for their future home. And most men have “man cave” somewhere on that list!

But what about women?? Not to be left out, a trend of “she sheds” has gotten a lot of attention lately! Basically a “she shed” is a fancy, customized shed that is
a place just for the lady of the house. Some she sheds are green houses, craft rooms, or with dainty Victorian style decor perfect for tea with friends.

Even before this trend, women  also appreciate a space for themselves in the house. We wanted to look at some creative ways for both the man and lady of the house to get their own personal space!

His and Hers Closets
craft closetI am sure you have heard the term his and hers. Closet space is a very important must have on most home buyer’s lists in the last 20 years. Newer homes are being built with extra closet space and many master bedrooms now have his and hers closets.

What if you were able to take some of that extra closet space and create your own getaway? This would be a great answer to those homes with less square footage that may not be able to work out closet
account for 2 whole rooms being used for the men and women of the house.

We like this work out closet! What a great way to motivate yourself to work out- TV+quiet+personal space+burning calories= awesomeness!

Or you could go all out man caveness in your closet and put an easy chair and the biggest TV that will fit. Only space for one seat means you have complete control over the remote!

She and He Sheds
Now the idea of “she sheds” has become very popular recently but just like we do not want to limit the man cave to just women, what about a he shed?

he shedHow cute is this guy enjoying his coffee and his plants? This just proves it doesn’t have to be fancy or even cost a lot of money! It is just nice to have a space to call your own!

This art studio would be great for either! But many women are creating those she shed 2craft spaces so a craft shed would be awesome! It could be a win/win for both man and woman because who likes seeing their wife’s craft supplies all over the counter! What if they were all contained outside in the she shed?! Problem=solved!

Split a Room in Two!
Maybe there is extra space in the house but it is only one extra room. Maybe put up a divider, a wall or a sound proof wall depending on how serious your sound issues could be (surround sound home theater? definitely sound proof that wall!).

Attic Cave?
So maybe you have the perfect basement rec room for a man cave! You have the surround sound and movie theater chairs. Or the spare bedroom became the craft room, and the man needs some space? How about an attic cave?

Refinishing your attic would not only bring your home value up, it would give you an extra space to have your space!attic man cave
Corner Cave
Really short on square footage but need your own little oasis in the home? What about customizing a small corner of a room for yourself? It would probably the most cost effective idea on this list and takes the least amount of
space!

corner cave

We love this lady corner cave! And this cute little princess of a pup loves it too! But I do believe it is specifically for the woman of the house! I think I would just feel prettier getting ready for the day at this little beauty bar.

This corner man cave is more of a hallway but is a great use of space and very creative! What a great way to display his hobbies and interests without takinghallway man cave up too much of the house!

We love these creative ways to give you and your spouse your own space in the house! (or outside!)

If you are looking for your dream home in Northern Virginia, DC or Maryland, we would love to help you find it! Even if your wish list includes a man or lady cave!!
